Can you help us do something incredible and join our community of supporters to raise £100,000 in 36 hours? 

Launching on 19 June, our Every Moment Counts appeal will raise vital funds so we can reach more people, much earlier in their journey with a life-limiting illness. 

Every moment counts for people facing a life-limiting illness, but patients are most commonly referred to us just two months before the end of their life, missing the opportunity for earlier support that could alleviate pain, reduce distress, and offer clarity about choices.  

At St Margaret’s, we are determined to help more people benefit from all areas of our hospice care, helping them to live well for as long as possible and spend precious moments with the people they love.  With your support, we can reach more people in our community when it matters most.

How to get involved

We are looking for people who are passionate about our work to help us spread the word about our Every Moment Counts appeal. If you would like to support our appeal by making a donation on 19 & 20 June, we would be incredibly grateful. Thanks to generous friends of St Margaret’s, all donations* made during the 36-hour appeal (up to £50,000) will be doubled, meaning they will have twice the impact! 

 

 

FAQs

Excluding donations we receive from gifts in Wills, in Fundraising, we need to raise an extra £106,000 next year to continue delivering our free, compassionate hospice care to those who need it most in Somerset.  

We have ambitious plans to reach more people, much earlier in their journey with a life-limiting illness, but we can’t do that without the support of our community. Currently, approximately 30% of our funding comes from the NHS, the rest is raised by our very generous supporters who have been by our side for generations. 

Each year we help over 4,800 people across Somerset. With your support, we hope to reach many more. We are launching a five-year strategy to help more people access our care sooner. Our plan, with your support, is to enhance our care by better understanding the unmet need and reaching people in our community earlier in their disease progression. 

The appeal will launch at 9am on 19 June. Donations made on our online appeal page within those 36 hours (up to £50,000) will be matched by generous friends of St Margaret’s, meaning they will have twice the impact!  

We are looking for Champions in our community who are passionate about our work to help spread the word and encourage people to donate to our appeal on 19 & 20 June. All we need you to do is tell your network (your friends, family, colleagues, community) about our appeal and encourage them to donate to your fundraising page which we will set up for you.

You can personalise your fundraising page with a paragraph to say why you are supporting St Margaret’s Hospice or why St Margaret’s is important to you. If you would like to include a photo or video on your fundraising page, please email these to us via the email address below and make sure the file name includes your full name. Please note, all photos should be saved as a JPEG or PNG (not a PDF). We would also recommend that videos are recorded in landscape format.
