London Marathon 2025
St Margaret’s Hospice Care is proud to once again partner with the TCS London Marathon. All our places for 2025 have been filled. If you were lucky enough to secure a ballot place and would like to fundraise for St Margaret’s, please email [email protected].
We are so grateful to everyone taking on this incredible challenge in support of St Margaret’s. All the money raised will go towards providing our specialist palliative and end-of-life care across Somerset, helping patients and their loved ones when it matters most.

“I lost my mum in 2022 and she’s the person I’m doing it for. She had the most incredible positive energy and we used to love travelling together.
“Having not run for over 10 years, last year I decided to run the Bath Half Marathon with a group of colleagues. It’s safe to say that I well and truly caught the running bug! I’d always aspired towards doing the London Marathon and with my trainers worn in, it felt like the perfect time.
“When I imagine running the marathon, I always imagine my mum being there cheering me along as she was always a great cheerleader for me and anyone who ever needed it. I know she would be supporting me on this journey and I always think of the words of encouragement she would be giving me.
“St Margaret’s brought such peace to our family and allowed us to say goodbye to her on our terms and I really hope that fundraising will allow other families that same relief.”

“I am running as St Margaret’s Hospice looked after my most beloved Nanna in her final few weeks.
“The hospice and your wonderful staff gave our family more time and improved my Nanna’s quality of life. Your support allowed us all to adjust to the impending loss.
“I looked forward to visiting the hospice and was beyond grateful for the love and care provided to us all.
“I have no idea how much I can expect to raise as I have never done anything like this before! £1000 would be incredible.”

“I’m really excited to be running the London Marathon this year on behalf of St Margaret’s Hospice in memory of my Grandad.
“My Grandad was incredibly special. He loved the outdoors, particularly at Springtime, and gave me a different perspective on the world as I was growing up. As his health suddenly deteriorated, St Margaret’s (at short notice) offered him a sanctuary where he could reconnect with nature and pass away in peace. My family and I will forever be grateful for the amazing care Grandad received and I am motivated to ensure St Margaret’s can continue to help those who need it the most.
“I know my Granny is thrilled that I’ll be running for him too, which is really lovely!
“Every donation matters, no matter how small – please consider donating if you can!”

“They supported not only my dad in the community but also us as a family when he was unwell and passed away.
“Running the marathon is going to be a massive personal challenge but I feel honored to have been given this charity place so I can run in my dad’s memory while giving something back to St Margaret’s Hospice. I want to help them continue providing this valuable service and amazing care.”

“I chose St Margaret’s as they provide vital care for people around Somerset, supporting patients and families.
“I would like the opportunity to run the London Marathon with my daughter Abby. I’ve dreamed of doing the London Marathon for over 10 years, and can’t wait to run it for this charity.
“St Margaret’s supported us when my Mother-in-Law was unwell, and they are currently supporting my Auntie who has breast cancer. They not only help with mental wellbeing but physical support too. All these things help the family as well as the person affected.
“I wanted to support a local charity that has helped so many – not only our family but others that live in the community. I am ready to take on this challenge and run double the distance to raise even more money for the incredible work you all do.”

“I would like to ensure other families going through such a tough time with a loved one can also benefit from such outstanding care.
“My mum, Barbara, spent the last few weeks of her life as a resident at the In-Patient Unit in Taunton – St Margaret’s and the support given to her and the family could not have been better.
“I ran the London 10k in July 2023 and have managed a 10-mile run around Curry Rivel and Drayton in May 2024, with plans to join a local club to help me increase my training in 2025.”

“St Margaret’s Hospice were there for Fiona in her last months so it feels right to give back to this wonderful charity in her honour.
“Over the years I was lucky enough to know Fiona she became a massive part of my life. She was a best friend to me, my sons godmother and one of the most amazing, selfless people I knew.
“She was taken from us all in December 2023 and has left a massive hole in many hearts.
“One of Fiona’s many beautiful traits was her passion for helping others, whether that be from the little gestures to the greater things. She always knew what to say and do.
“I know she would have said I was bonkers for running the London Marathon but I feel inspired by her every day and want to do something to channel my grief and give back.”

“I’m running for St Margaret’s because my mum recently spent some time there and felt very at home there.
“After getting a place in the London marathon through the ballot it was a bit of a no-brainier when it came to deciding which charity to raise a few quid for. My mum felt very at home there; nothing seemed to much trouble. On my part, I’m not sure I’d have coped as well as I did without the support and advice they provided me.
“Whatever I manage to raise won’t be enough, but it’ll go some way to saying thank you.”
